Welcome to the Ladies section of Copthorne Golf Club. I took over as the new Lady Captain on the 5th November having been a Member of this wonderful club for over 25 years. We are a traditional club and maintain high standards especially the course, which is always presented beautifully. We have around 68 Lady Members most of whom play golf on a regular basis. We enjoy playing our golf, never tiring of the challenge Copthorne presents.
Our Ladies Day is on a Tuesday and we play various competitions, including Medals, Stablefords, 4 Ball Better Ball and a variety of other formats. We enjoy playing golf against the Gentlemen members, the Vets and the Juniors. It is always a great delight to us when we manage to beat them.
We also enjoy the County Matches, National Competitions and friendlies around Sussex and Surrey.
We also enjoy social events during the year. Trips to the theatre, Ladies lunches or charity events.
A group always turn up Thursday mornings for a roll-up and sometimes on a Saturday to play with the Business Ladies.
We have no need to book tee times. A weekend Summers afternoon is a delight to play golf, enjoying the scenery and the wild life on the course, with very few Members choosing to play at that time.
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the new Lady Members and hope your time at Copthorne will be as enjoyable as mine, playing golf and enjoying the company of fellow members. We have a great section of Ladies all very friendly.
Good golfing in 2012. I hope to see you all out on the course, or in the bar for a drink.
